April coffee news: Bring the spice, more Boba, and National Cold Brew Day
What's going on in April in the coffee world.
It’s hard to believe it’s already April, but I’m ready for warmer weather. My kids finished spring break and we are now counting down the last quarter of school.
April is a fun coffee month, especially since “National Cold Brew Day” is on Saturday, April 20. Many coffee chains do a promotion on that day, so mark it on your calendar. We already know that Dutch Bros will be offering an exclusive sticker on the 20th but are still waiting to hear what other places are doing.

What’s happening in April at…
Starbucks
Starbucks is continuing to offer lavender powder this month. They also feature a caffeine-free drink, the Lavender Oatmilk Chill. It has lavender, dragonfruit inclusions, and oatmilk. I’ve not tried it yet, but it sounds like a delish spring-inspired drink!
And, SCOOP, Starbucks is launching limited-time SPICY LEMONADE REFRESHERS starting on Tuesday, March 16. The new ingredient will be a “Spicy Chili Powder Blend.” A pineapple, dragonfruit, and strawberry drink will be offered. This drink is very on-trend and reminds me of the Mangonada Rebel Dutch Bros offered last year which used Tajin.
I’ve also confirmed that this summer, starting May 7, Starbucks will offer “Raspberry Flavored Pearls.” The pearls will give a Boba-like experience to iced drinks. A new Summer-Berry Refresher will be the featured offer to use with the pearls, but they can be added to most iced drinks.
Dutch Bros
If you got the sticker from Dutch Bros’ last drop, there was a note on the back that said to come back on April 20 for another. That’s National Cold Brew Day! So, we know a new sticker will be available, and I’ll bet a new cold brew drink will be available also.
Dutch Bros has been offering a “Sneak Peek” at some locations. The drinks featured include the Cookie Dough Freeze, Sherbert Rebel, and Tropical Frosted Lemonade. I can’t wait to try them. I don’t have word yet on when they will be featured nationwide.
Dunkin’
Dunkin’ is launching its Early Summer menu on Wednesday, May 1. Good news, lemonade will be available and is now a permanent menu item.
